Frequently asked questions
What you need to know about the newsletter, the membership, and the beat.
Publishing
How often does Commodity Bread publish?

Twice a month. Free subscribers get one issue — a curated roundup of the most interesting things happening in food, agriculture, policy, and the non-vinifera wine world. Members get both issues, including a second that goes deeper with original reporting, data analysis, and coverage of the hybrid wine community that you’re unlikely to find anywhere else.

History
What happened to Grape Rush?

The Grape Rush newsletter, and all its wine coverage, was folded into Commodity Bread. If you were a Grape Rush subscriber, you’re already getting Commodity Bread. Nothing was lost in the move; if anything, there’s more of it now.

Membership
Why did you create a paid version?

Original reporting costs money, and it takes time — sourcing data, interviewing people, fact-checking, and often traveling to places where the story actually is. The paid tier exists to make that more sustainable. If you read Commodity Bread and find it useful, becoming a member is the most direct way to support the work and keep it going.

How can I sign up?

Head to the subscribe page and choose your plan. Free subscribers get immediate access to the newsletter and all free content. Paid members get both newsletter editions plus access to all subscriber-only reporting. You can cancel at any time from your account settings.

Pricing
How much does a subscription cost?

Visit the subscribe page to see current plan pricing. It’s straightforward and simple.

Cancellation
How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel at any time from your account page. Note that unsubscribing from Commodity Bread emails does not cancel your paid subscription — it only pauses email delivery. To end your subscription and stop auto-renewals, cancellation must be initiated through your account page.

Account
How do I manage my account?

Free subscribers can update email preferences via the link at the bottom of any newsletter. Paid members manage billing, cancellation, and email at commoditybread.memberful.com/account — a link is included in every member email.

Contact
I have a story idea. How do I get in touch?

Send it to chase@commoditybread.com. Tips, data sources, leads, and reader mail are all welcome. Growers, winemakers, researchers, and policymakers especially encouraged.

Commodity Bread is published by Chase Purdy. For press inquiries or other questions, use the contact email above.
